Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) is a 300+ bed acute care facility boasting stable, state-of-the-art Programs within a team environment and with a dedicated staff that ensures high-level, patient-focused care. The organization comprises of two main hospital sites, the Brantford General Hospital and Willet Hospital. Located in the picturesque Grand River Valley 20 minutes west of Hamilton, our community offers outstanding recreational opportunities.  

BCHS is the area’s acute care facility, providing all of Brantford and Brant County's specialty programs and services for our 120,000+ residents and boasts stable, state-of-the-art programs within a team environment that ensures high level patient-focused care. We are a regional centre for a variety of services including surgical services and obstetrical care.

Our Surgical Assist service provides assistance with a wide variety of surgical procedures. Our surgical specialties including general surgery, urology, orthopedics, ENT, gynecology, obstetrics for cesarean sections and some pediatric surgeries.

We are currently recruiting for a Surgical Assist to join our division of Surgical Assisting in our Department of Surgery for on-call coverage with potential for daytime work as well. Candidates must be able to commit to a minimum of 2 on-call shifts per month, one weekend day (0800-0800hrs) and one weeknight (1700-0800hrs). The preferred candidate will have an independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Candidates with some experience assisting with surgical procedures including general surgery, orthopedics and obstetrics/gynecology are encouraged to apply. Training is provided for interested applicants who do not have surgical assisting experience. They will be joining a dedicated group of surgical assists providing service at the Brantford General Hospital site.

The surgical assists schedule is flexible with accommodation for outside work commitments.  Remuneration for this work is Fee for Service (“FFS”) billings through the Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan with additional stipend for Hospital On-Call Coverage (HOCC) for associated on-call duties.
