Services are delivered in a client-focused health center with six inpatient beds, an in-house medical clinic and a 28-bed long term care facility. Integrated social services, midwifery, community counseling, public health, radiology, homecare, and rehabilitation services allow our team of health professionals to deliver quality comprehensive care.
Our Family Physicians will be scheduled in Emergency, clinic, and participate in a 1:3 home call. There is excellent support by visiting specialists from Yellowknife. Fort Smith is perfect for outdoor living.
1-3 Year Contracts:
Compensation is $376,543 - $436,383, including benefits, plus bonuses of $25,000 - $100,000. Benefits include: health and dental, retirement income benefits, outstanding leave benefits, relocation assistance, and professional development opportunities and education support. Physicians are also eligible to bring a guest through our Friends & Family Travel program*
Locum Information:
Locums are typically scheduled for 1 week or more and include:
- A guaranteed daily rate for scheduled shifts
- Travel stipend
- Accommodations and travel arranged by the health authority on your behalf
- Eligibility to bring a guest through our Friends & Family Travel program by working 5 shifts during December 20, 2025, and January 4, 2026. We’ll reimburse you up to $2000 to bring a guest by January 31st.

This job typically requires CCFP certification. ACLS and ATLS or evidence of equivalent training and skills are required, and candidates must be eligible for licensure to practice in the Northwest Territories.
