Job Description

The Central Ottawa Family Medicine Associates (COFMA) are currently seeking to add a new associate to our current group of ten. We are an award-winning, dynamic and collegial primary care practice recognized as a leader in innovative, evidence-based care. You can bring your existing patients or start a practice from scratch. There may also be an opportunity to take over an existing practice. A new associate can start as early as May 1, 2024.

Founded in 2002, COFMA’s declared mission is to create a practice environment that provides the highest quality of care and service for the patient and the best possible professional satisfaction for the physicians, nurses and staff. We strive to be a practice recognized as a model for Canadian primary care. 

We pursue our mission in several ways. We run a highly efficient office with excellent colleague, nursing and administrative staff support, including a dedicated and experienced office manager. As healthcare is an information-intensive enterprise, we have worked hard to become highly skilled users of the Telus PS EMR, which dramatically enhances our ability to reliably apply evidence-based best practice standards to patients at the individual and population level. Our nursing and full-time administrative staff have all been with us for many years and are well-versed in our protocols and clinical processes. A recent move to a new office space provides a well-appointed physical environment to work in.

As a Family Health Organization (FHO) with a very high proportion of our patients rostered to our practices, we are well-remunerated while working at a reasonable pace and offering ourselves maximal flexibility in our work arrangements. We collectively retain an extremely high percentage of our access bonus each month and our group size optimizes our overhead costs. Most importantly, we place immense value on a collaborative, cooperative and friendly work environment which has been an important asset in today’s challenging primary care climate.

COFMA commits itself to ensuring our new colleague's success and will provide strong support to the incoming associate during the transition into our practice. COFMA is structured as an associate-owned organization and all associates share in the investment and financial operations of the practice.
