Job Description:

 

We are looking for one (1) full-time permanent Family Physician to provide family medicine services to the community both by appointment and on a walk-in basis. The Family Physician will be responsible for delivering comprehensive primary care in accordance with the highest standards of medical practice and the regulations established by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Specifically:

 

  • Providing primary and continuing medical care to patients of all ages.
  • Diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions, including acute illnesses, chronic diseases, physiological disorders, and minor injuries.
  • Conducting physical exams, routine health assessments, and managing chronic conditions.
  • Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other relevant investigations.
  • Prescribing and administering medications, treatments, and performing minor procedures, as necessary.
  • Delivering preventive care, including immunizations, health education, and lifestyle counseling.
  • Providing urgent care for minor emergencies and acute presentations.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with provincial and clinical standards.
  • Participating in care coordination and referrals to specialists when appropriate.

 

Work Location and Hours

 

New Norwood Medical Centre is conveniently located at 43 Marion Street, Unit A-2, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R2H 0S8. Our standard hours of operation are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm.

 

The Family Physician will be expected to work at least 40-hours per week and see approximately 200 patients weekly. They will have the flexibility in determining working hours within our regular operating hours, with scheduling guided by patient needs and coordinated rotations with other physicians to ensure comprehensive coverage at our New Norwood Medical Centre.

 

Qualifications:
 

The following qualifications are required:

 

  • Medical Degree.
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Prior to starting practice, required to obtain medicolegal insurance with the Canadian Medical Protective Association, or with another carrier at their expense.
  • Letter of good standing from previous employer.
  • Must provide Criminal record check, Child and Adult abuse check prior to starting practice.
  • A minimum signed 3-year Service Commitment Agreement is required.
  • All duties will be performed in English.

 

Compensation:

 

Remuneration will be fee-for-service based on the existing agreement between Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Healthy Living and Senior (MHHLS). Anticipated total annual compensation based on this model and practice size is approximately CAD$350,000.
