About us
Fatigue is the most commonly reported symptom in cancer, and the one most likely to go untreated. Patients raise it in primary care and there has been nowhere to send them, no workup to order, and no pathway to refer into. We built Cancer Fatigue Services to be that place. We believe every person living with or after cancer deserves a real workup for their exhaustion and a real plan to address it.
We address cancer-related fatigue the way medicine treats any other complex condition: as something with identifiable causes that can be measured, ranked, and treated. Cancer Fatigue Services (CFS) is Canada's first physician-led, multidisciplinary practice dedicated entirely to the assessment, treatment, and prevention of cancer-related fatigue. Our care model is built around ten treatable causes of fatigue, spanning anemia, immune dysfunction, hormone imbalance, chronic pain, emotional health, exercise intolerance, nutrition, sleep, cognition, and medication effects. Every patient receives a comprehensive medical evaluation and full physical exam, a battery of validated patient-reported outcomes, and objective physiological assessment including cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), body composition analysis, and strength and physical function testing.
Results are delivered in a dedicated appointment, and the care plan is built with the patient in a shared decision-making visit with their physician, not handed to them at the end of a rushed consult. Treatment is a personalized sequence of supervised cardiovascular and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, physician-led counselling, group CBT and peer support, cognitive rehabilitation, nutrition counselling, behavioural support, and targeted specialist referrals, delivered as a coordinated longitudinal pathway rather than a series of disconnected referrals.
We are based in Toronto at Yonge and Sheppard, with virtual care delivered across Ontario. Our team includes family, palliative, and internal medicine physicians, registered social workers and psychotherapists, exercise therapists, professional and peer patient navigators, and a customer care team that carries the administrative burden for both patients and clinicians.
The same principle applies internally. We designed this practice so our clinicians can do the work they trained for, with protected time for each encounter, administrative support between patients, no call, no take-home work, and a schedule you set yourself.
