Tenure Track Faculty Position, Assistant Professor, Primary Care and Health Systems Research, University of Saskatchewan
The Department of Family Medicine, College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Primary Care and Health Systems Research.
This position is intended to strengthen Family Medicine’s capacity in applied, system-embedded research and to support the Department’s growing role in primary care transformation, health equity, and community-engaged scholarship. The role complements existing clinical and educational faculty positions by emphasizing research leadership and scholarly impact rather than clinical service.
The successful candidate will establish and sustain an active program of research aligned with Family Medicine priorities. Areas of focus may include primary care systems and service delivery, health equity and social justice, Indigenous-engaged and community-based research, participatory and mixed-methods approaches, and knowledge translation to inform policy and practice. The candidate will contribute to peer-reviewed research, secure external funding, collaborate with interdisciplinary colleagues and health system partners and engage in Indigenous-led initiatives.
In addition to sustaining an active program of research, responsibilities include teaching and supervision of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate learners. Teaching will be strategic and aligned with the research -intensive nature of the role, with contributions to graduate-level teaching and mentorship of Graduate Students, Family Medicine Residents, and undergraduate learners, including Dean’s Summer Research Project students.
The successful candidate will also participate in service activities appropriate to rank, including involvement in Departmental and College Committees and contributions to research governance and strategic planning. Opportunities may exist to assume leadership roles in the PBRLN-SK (Practice-Based Research and Learning Network) and other research or innovation initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with communities, Nations and patients with lived and living experience (PWLE), and to build relationships with external partners, including the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Ministry of Health.

Candidates should demonstrate experience contributing to applied, community-engaged, and health systems research, along with the ability to teach and supervise learners in an academic health sciences environment.
