Introduction
The Hawkesbury & District General Hospital (HGH) is looking for a Locum Internist to work in our newly built Ambulatory Care Wing. There is also the opportunity to work in our ICU providing level 2 basic ICU care (non-invasive ventilation (High flow, BIPAP, CPAP)), certain advanced level 2 ICU care (such as arterial line monitoring and vasoactive/inotropic IV medications) and basic cardiac unit care as well as our Hospitalist Department should this be of interest to the candidate.
Start dates are flexible and based on the candidate's availability. Most of the work is done in person with a percentage that can be done virtually depending on personal preference.
Clinical Setting and Duties
Our team is currently composed of six Internists, who together provide essential services to the residents of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. Given that 70% of our population is francophone, fluency in both French and English is a requirement. HGH relies on teamwork, innovation, and leadership to provide our 55 000 visit/year emergency department unit, 6 bed intensive care unit, 38 bed medicine-surgery unit, 16 bed palliative care ALC unit, and 16 bed complex-continuing care unit with first-rate patient/family centered care. HGH is also a member of The Atlas Alliance through which it forms educational and working partnerships with the Ottawa Hospital and the Ottawa Heart Institute.
Our newly renovated hospital and ICU can count on a multitude of hospital based medical specialities (including cardiology, GIM, surgery, OBGYN, neurology, GI, etc.), allied heath professionals (Respiratory therapists 12/24h, physiotherapy, OT, etc.) and has access to 24/7 CT scans, MRIs, upper-lower endoscopies, TTE and TEE (to name a few).
Training
Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and license with the College Physician and Surgeons of Ontario.
