License:
Licensed or eligible for licensure with the applicable provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Primary Duties of the Family Physician:
Assessing patients, obtaining medical histories, and performing physical examinations.
Diagnosing and treating acute illnesses, injuries, chronic diseases, and common medical conditions.
Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other medical investigations.
Prescribing medications and providing appropriate treatment plans.
Providing preventive healthcare, including routine examinations, health screening, immunizations, and health-promotion counselling.
Managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, cardiovascular disease, and other ongoing health concerns.
Providing follow-up care and maintaining continuity of care for rostered and walk-in patients.
Referring patients to medical specialists, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals when required.
Providing counselling and education regarding disease prevention, treatment options, medications, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles.
