Emergency Medicine CCFP(EM) or FRCP

Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

 

Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario is located on the St. Mary’s River between Lake Huron and Lake Superior on the U.S. /Canadian border. The Sault has all the amenities of a regional urban centre, with both the Canadian wilderness and extraordinary vacation areas in Michigan just minutes away. There is a strong cultural and arts basis in the community, and both winter and summer outdoor activities abound. The Sault has an excellent school system and offers a multitude of sports and artistic opportunities for children and adults alike. Sault Ste. Marie is served by three Canadian airlines as well as one major U.S. airline.

 

Sault Area Hospital (SAH) is a new state-of-the-art facility recently opened in 2011. With 291 inpatient beds and 14 Intensivist led ICU beds, SAH provides emergency, primary, secondary, selected tertiary and long-term care healthcare services to the city and the District of Algoma with a catchment population of approximately 115,000.

 

The Emergency medicine staff is composed of an expanding group of young, dedicated, and skilled emergency physicians. We are supported by an ED based Internist, Hospitalist, Pediatrics, as well as a closed ICU with an in-house Intensivist on call 24 hours. There is a full complaint of surgical specialties with the exception of vascular, cardiac and neurosurgery. Our diagnostic imaging department includes MRI, Ultrasound and two CT scanners.

 

We are looking to recruit FRCP, CCFP(EM)s or physicians with equivalent experience working to pursue a FRCP or CCFP(EM) designation. New physicians are scheduled to work day time shifts with cross coverage while they are learning the ropes. We offer very flexible scheduling for both a full and part time physicians.

 

Affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) provides the opportunity to teach residents and medical students. We are also very excited about emerging research opportunities with educational and financial assistance from the Sault Ste. Marie Academic Medical Association.

 

This position is eligible for a very competitive community incentive package, as well as Ontario Ministry of Health incentives offered through the Northern Rural Recruitment & Retention Initiative and a generous ED - AFA with an additional percentage of billing.
