Job Description

Looking for a locum for maternity leave JANUARY or FEBRUARY until JUNE 2021 in beautiful Prince Edward County (PEC).

Our fully equipped clinic is located right beside the Picton Hospital. The roster size is ~ 1100 patients and requires 6 ‘half-days’ of clinic per week Mon-Fri, plus paperwork. Accuro EMR can be accessed remotely. Patient EMR charts are organized & up to date. I am looking to essentially hand the practice over for the duration of my mat leave so the locum would have the full responsibility of running the practice.

The position also requires a bit of inpatient coverage at the 18-bed Picton Hospital. Inpatient coverage wouldn’t begin until *April* as our team temporarily adjusted the model for COVID, so you’d have time to get familiar with the clinic / the area from January-March. Inpatient billings are in addition to the base rate pay.

ER is totally optional; you could have our shifts if interested (approximately 6 per month) or we can keep them. There’s also an opportunity for a paid ER mentorship program which could be integrated into your locum if you want to gain for experience with rural ER.

Office space is shared with another FHO physician should you need assistance with anything, and other docs in the building are always happy to help. Our FHO/FHT is well funded with many services/programs: Diabetes clinic, wound care, NP home visit program, well child immunizations, mental health counsellors, dietitians, pharmacists, and several visiting specialist clinics including psychiatry, cardiology, respirology. The FHO doctors are active in clinical teaching rotations for Queen’s med students and family medicine residents (there is no student booked during the locum period).

Please note that if you want to stay, there are opportunities to join our FHO! Prince Edward County is a lovely area to live, work, and raise a family, with access to world-class restaurants, over 35 wineries, artisan shops, Sandbanks provincial park, schools, and yet remains easily accessible to larger centres such as Belleville, Kingston and Toronto.

Job Requirements

See above.
1. 6 half days of clinic (15 min appts) plus paperwork.
2. minimal / some inpatient coverage from April onwards at small local hospital.
3. ER is completely optional - we are happy to cover these shifts during the locum if not interested in rural ER.
