Division of Medicine in Psychiatry (Employment Opportunity)

 

Hospitalists (3)

Position Summary

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is a fully affiliated teaching hospital for the University of Toronto, and Canada’s largest academic health sciences center devoted to mental health. The Division of Medicine in Psychiatry is recruiting three full-time Academic Hospitalists to join their team at CAMH.

 

The hospitalist consultant role involves providing primary care to an assigned acute and a chronic/rehab unit with the additional option for shifts in the emergency department. There will also be an expectation to work occasional weekend day shifts during the year.

 

  • These positions are available starting Jan 1st, 2022 (negotiable start dates).

  • Working hours: M-F (8:30 am - 4:30 pm). Weekends (9 am-5 pm).

  • Compensation is a combined bed stipend and fee-for-service model.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Patient care activities will include, but are not be limited to:

 

  1. Assessment, evaluation, diagnostic determination, ongoing treatment and clinical management of acute and chronic medical issues, determination for subspecialist referral for consultation, care planning and modification, medications/therapeutic orders in close collaboration with attending MRP Psychiatrist and allied health team members

  2. Regular patient contact and care management that actively encourages inter-professional care amongst patient care teams.

  3. Timely completion of all clinical documentation to ensure compliance with hospital policies, College of Physician and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) standards, and OHIP billing requirements.

  4. Teaching and supervision of medical trainees in an academic setting.

  5. Participation in the academic mission of the Division of Medicine in Psychiatry at CAMH.

  6. Performance of other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

 

Education:

·   CCFP certification

·   Additional training in Hospital Medicine is desirable

Experience:

·   Clinical, teaching, quality improvement and/or research experience
in the community or academic teaching hospitals is desirable

Degrees,
Licensure, and/or
Certification:

·   Physician will have an active license in good standing with the CPSO
and CMPA in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Centre
for Addiction and Mental Health

Knowledge,
Skills, and

Abilities:

 

 

·   Clinical training and skills as mandated by the CCFP

·   Ability to work with others in a cooperative, inter-professional and
collaborative manner

·   Strong written and oral communication skills

·   For clinician educators and clinician researchers, strong clinical teaching
and research skills, respectively
