Job Description

Position Advertisement: Hospitalist, St. John’s Rehab Sunnybrook is a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto with three campuses and home to one of Canada’s largest inpatient rehabilitation centres. The campus of St. John’s Rehab (SJR) provides inpatient care to 178 patients. The Division of St Johns Rehab Hospitalists, part of the Sunnybrook Department of Family and Community Medicine (fully affiliated with the DFCM of the University of Toronto) invites applications for a full-time academic hospitalist. The successful candidate will serve as most responsible provider (MRP) to a unit of 36 beds with a primary focus on stroke, cancer, and other disabling conditions at SJR. The MRP will work with a broad interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate should have an in interest in Quality and Innovation with a goal of serving as a Clinician in Quality and Innovation in the University of Toronto DFCM, and would serve as a local lead for quality at SJR. Clinical work will include daily rounding, admissions, discharges, family team meetings, hospital team rounds, and some committee work, as well as Division and Department meetings and Hospital staff meetings. Call will be shared with 3 other hospitalists at SJR. The successful candidate should feel comfortable with teaching students and residents during the course of clinical work, as well as with giving occasional lectures and participating in inter-professional M&M rounds. Applicants must have a CCFP degree and be eligible to practice medicine in Ontario. Experience in Hospital medicine required, preferably greater than 3 years, and experience in Rehab Hospitalist work is an asset. The successful candidate would become a member of an existing DFCM practice plan.
