Job Description

Job Description The position offers a part time opportunity for family medicine or internal medicine physicians to become a member of the interdisciplinary teams which provide medical care and rehabilitation services to patients recovering from acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury and a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, in association with attending GFT physiatrists, house staff, nursing and rehabilitation team members. The position is located at the brand new Providence Care Hospital on the shores of Lake Ontario. The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have current valid certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of an ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative work environment. The Queen’s University Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation provides local and regional clinical rehabilitation programs (outpatient and inpatient), undergraduate Health Sciences training, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons accredited postgraduate training and relevant clinically based research. In this role, and supported by the physiatrist team, the hospitalists provide primary care for up to 30 patients on the wards – MSK and neuro rehab. Backup support for complex patients is always available and there is also an on-site nurse practitioner who can provide support. Supervision may be provided to the right candidate(s).
