We are looking for permanent & locum Family Physicians with Enhanced Surgical Skills (ESS) or Obstetrical Surgical Skills (OSS) to join team!
Our physicians work in Inuvik Regional Hospital, the northernmost hospital with an operating room on the continent. This 48-bed facility includes long-term care and a 14-bed acute care unit featuring two labor and delivery rooms. Family physicians in Inuvik are part of a primary care team, providing services at seven or more community health centers through scheduled travel, phone, and Telehealth consultations.
Your surgical or obstetrical skills will serve as a local gateway to all surgical subspecialties. Procedures within your scope will be well-supported by our local OR team, and there is an opportunity to scrub in with visiting surgical specialists from Yellowknife. Your practice may include open or laparoscopic surgeries across various specialties, including general surgery, urology, orthopedics, plastics, and gynecology. You will provide clinic, inpatient, and emergency care at our rural hospital.
While low-risk obstetrical care is an asset, it is not required. Our full-time team consists of ESS Physicians, FP-Anesthetists, and General Practitioners, along with various visiting specialists from Yellowknife and Edmonton in fields such as Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, ENT, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry.
Salaries range from $479,773 - $567,793 including benefits PLUS bonuses of $25,000 - $100,000 (effective April 1, 2025), plus a comprehensive health and dental coverage, outstanding leave benefits, relocation assistance, and professional development opportunities and education support. Our graduate physicians are also typically eligible for student loan forgiveness through Canada’s Loan Forgiveness program.
Typically, these positions require CCFP certification and Enhanced Surgical or Obstetrical Surgical Residency training, however, CCFP certified physicians with appropriate and recent GP Surgery experience will be evaluated and considered.
