Job Description

Opportunities in our urban centres and coastal towns across the region!

Flexible shifts: full-time and part-time

Island Health has immediate opportunities for Family Practice Physicians to join our communities across Vancouver Island. Work in Duncan, Nanaimo, Courtenay, Port Alberni, Victoria or Tofino.

Whether you are looking for a modern, professionally managed clinic with ocean views or you’re interested in joining a community that will have a new hospital expected to open in 2027 where you can take part in optional hospital coverage, we will help you find your fit.

Join collegial medical staff with a focus on team-based care.

Island Health

Over 2000 physicians practice with Island Health, providing comprehensive health care services to a population of over 750,000 residents. Two tertiary facilities in Victoria are complemented by regional, community and rural health services across the region.

We have an academic affiliation with the University of British Columbia (UBC) postgraduate programs and offer positions at teaching hospitals. We also have a Family Practice Residency Program and are involved in both medical student and residency education.

Our teams are responsible for quality improvement, teaching, continuing professional development, research and human resource planning. We are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion throughout.

At Island Health, we recognize, gain knowledge and respect the differences in each individual we serve. The right to feel culturally safe is for everyone.

The Communities

Each city offers a close proximity to a wide array of recreational activities including kayaking, kite boarding, windsurfing, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, running, skiing and golfing.

For your children, choose between public or private schools for grade school and post secondary options are available throughout the island with options at Vancouver Island University, the University of Victoria, Camosun College, Royal Roads University or North Island College.
