Job Requirements

You will work an 8 hour day, Monday to Friday, with a 1 in 4 call. However we are uncommonly called back to the hospital. Call is typically done in blocks, and there is not always a psychiatrist on call. Our outpatient psychiatry generally sees a maximum of 6 patients a day in person or via Telehealth. Appointments are scheduled for 1.5 hours for new assessments, and 1 hour for follow up sessions. Our inpatient services include covering our 10-bed Psychiatry Unit at the Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife, rounding throughout the hospital with a typical caseload of 6 patients a day.
Our psychiatrists have a great deal of support from staff, behavioural health workers, social workers, and mental health act support workers.
