Full time, part time or locum options
Victoria Opportunities:
Hospitalists in Victoria provide a 24-hour MRP service at the Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals. The medicine is engaging, offering a wide range of variety and pathology. We enjoy a great deal of autonomy in our work, while also receiving strong support from our specialist colleagues. Our care covers patients aged 17-100+, and includes addictions, palliative care, geriatrics and co-management of surgical and rehabilitation patients.
Island Health is affiliated with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine. Hospitalists support undergraduate and resident teaching at both hospital sites. We have weekly CME rounds, and many opportunities for learning, growth and innovation. As part of our team you also have the option of working in one of our unique hospitalist-run programs including the Inpatient MAID service, Hospital at Home and the Rapid Assessment and Discharge short-stay unit.
We are looking for enthusiastic, keen candidates with an interest in acute care who love working collaboratively as part of a team. We have a strong, tailored mentorship program to onboard our new members. In addition, we offer a six-week (non consecutive) FP return to acute care refresher program for those out of hospital medicine two years. Ask for more details!
Relocation allowances may be available for full-time positions.
Nanaimo Opportunities:
We are a very collegial group of ~25 physicians with diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to our team, with a strong emphasis on work life balance.
Like all aspects of medicine, some days can be demanding and the patient load and complexity challenging. Our group is MRP for the majority of patients at Nanaimo General Regional Hospital. We are all continuously learning from our peers and colleagues, which makes for very interesting, collaborative and stimulating work. We pride ourselves on the supportive environment we have created with great specialist relations and by stepping up to help each other whenever it is needed. This makes those challenging days manageable and more rewarding as you feel that you are truly a valued member of the team.
Our scheduling offers great flexibility with shifts assigned months in advance to allow ample time to plan for your and your families needs. Most of our shifts are weekday hours but we do have weekend and evening shifts built in to our schedule. The shifts are generally in a block format of 5-7 consecutive days but we also have single days as well as shorter blocks of shifts available.
In case you have never heard of Nanaimo, this a perfect time to come check it out and see what our program has to offer. In fact, come visit our team and we will even throw in a Nanaimo bar…to sweeten the deal!
